Emily developed fundraising expertise working with nonprofits that include a regional university, a historic theatre, and various grassroots projects. She also has decades of journalism experience: reporting and editing for publications in Bellingham, WA; and creating maps and charts for the New York Times. One of her strengths is crafting project budgets that match and complement the story being told in a grant proposal narrative. She often asks questions that focus a conversation on essentials.

Emily earned a B.S. in Communications from the State University of New York Empire State College. She has deepened and broadened her fundraising expertise through membership in Puget Sound Grantwriters Association (PSGA) since 2008 and as a member of the board of directors 2019-22.
